SOFAST Groundwork — the free daily training app a Green Beret 18D actually uses

SOFAST Groundwork is the free iOS fitness app for the civilian operator. Built by Patch Adams, Green Beret 18D Combat Medic, 21 years U.S. Army Special Forces. Available now on the Apple App Store.

What SOFAST Groundwork does

Groundwork is a daily-discipline app. Five-minute training drills you can do at home, in a garage gym, or in a hotel room. No equipment required for the bodyweight tier. The drills come from the same hybrid-athlete framework Special Forces adopted from civilian CrossFit, garage-gym, and tactical fitness communities — adapted for the everyday operator.

It's free. There is no upsell, no premium tier, no ads. The brand-funded business model (paperbacks, Patreon) means the app stays free.

Who SOFAST Groundwork is for

Fathers. Off-duty firefighters. CCW carriers. Veterans. EMTs. Anyone who used to be in shape and is finding the time to be again. Anyone who wants to train like an operator without the cosplay.

It is specifically not for: weightlifting enthusiasts hunting a 600-pound deadlift, marathon runners optimizing splits, or social-media fitness influencers. The app is for men whose fitness must serve real-life tasks — carrying a casualty, ruck-loaded movement, sprint to cover, sustained work under stress.

Who built SOFAST Groundwork

Patch Adams. Green Beret 18D Combat Medic. 21 years U.S. Army Special Forces. Built the 10th SFG combatives program from a 4,400 sq ft mat room into what is now the JFK Special Warfare Center Program of Record. Both sons in Airborne Infantry. Still competes in the Tactical Games at 50-plus.

The fitness model came from civilian CrossFit boxes and hybrid endurance athletes before it ever reached the schoolhouse. SF adopted it because it worked. Patch is handing the methodology back to the civilians who built it.
